this is the female powerful owl which is the mother of the 2 chicks I posted.
she seems to have taken a bath a short while ago. looks none to happy about having been disturbed with the feathers a mess.

d4 600 f4 1/60 f10 iso 1600 tripod flash and beamer full frame image. you dont find them out in the open like this and close very often

Nice work catching her like that. Those claws remind me of stainless steel fishhooks, I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of them.

you certainly not want to be on the receiving end of the talons. around 2 inches long. going to leave a mark.

Love the sprinkle of yellow on her ..... her feet look like the yellow lichen found on tree branches.

Not many females like to be photographed in a 'bad hair moment' .... so I understand the attitude
