  • sea eagle again

went to the river this afternoon but saw squat. I knew the tide was wrong but decided to go anyhow just in case.
still got plenty of sea eagle pix from last week though so I will inflict another of the new female.
here she is with the full wing spread.
you just keep her in the viewfinder and shoot when she banks so the light gets under the wings. hopefully she does it close.
she was quite cooperative last week in that respect. not managed to get her making a catch, she looked like she was going to stoop but aborted.
they usuallytelegraph when they are going to stoop cos the talons come down first so it gives you a little time to get ready

        Superb.

Tripod? Or are you hand holding that big rig? I'm impressed either way

yep mostly use on the tripod. I have puny arms.
having said that, you can shoot flight hand held with it.(for short times) is probably easier to track flying stuff handheld because your freedom of movement is better.
becomes heavy real quick though. feels a lot harder to shoot stationary stuff with it though.
