That's one stunning photo Ironwood. Such beautiful colours. Ticks a lot of the technical boxes and a few emotional ones too. great shot.

Some nice light and eye contact, (with catch light) in this one Brad.

Good detail and a background that is busy, but still pleasant, typical and lacking in noise for the purists

      Whites look pretty good too.

      Exif of...

Shutter Speed = 1/500 second, F-Stop = 6, Program = manual control (1), ISO Speed Ratings = 250, would be worth adding for indicating how you achieved it.

      Cheers

Cheers Isac and Alan. Thanks for the assessment Guys. It was a gap in the clouds that gave me the nice light just at the right moment, pity about the shadow across the beak though. I should try and remember to add the exif.

Prefer the first post. This looks to have slightly too much red and cropped a bit tight.

But I am on my laptop atm - so it could be perfect

I love the colour detail on the bird, great work on getting it so clear.
I prefer the second image as you've warmed up the bird quite a bit, maybe slightly too much.
But I prefer the background on the 1st one, without the warming up.
If you could warm up only the bird, it would make for much better image!!
