Filing in time yesterday with some Gulls. Lying on my stomach in the sand, several birds approached me and stopped a couple of meters away and just stared at me.

When I eventually walked back to the car, the flock wheeled and circled me all the way, with one of the birds landing on the roof of my car. The flock circled the departing car with the single gull still sitting on the roof.

It felt like a scene from 'The Birds'. Not sure whether they were threatening or treating me like a bird whisperer.

#4 is my favourite Alan. It's "Looking Down" pose is just splendid. Not much wrong with your tammy.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Well spotted Greg - it could also have been an entrant in 'Three' I just realised.

My Tammy is OK of up close, but pretty useless at any distance. Let me know how you go with calibration, (and how to do it - I know I should/could Google it)

I've just adjusted mine to -10 and it's much better Seems to be OK through the whole zoom range. I put the camera on a tripod in front of a table and pointed it to 45°, then placed a ruler (40cm) type) leading away from the camera. Using single focus setting, focused on the centre (20cm) of the ruler (vibration control off) and took a time delayed photo. My focus was showing forward focus on the 17cm mark. I just kept adjusting by -1 unit and kept taking photos until the 20cm mark was in focus. This shows how to do the camera adjustments AF Fine Tune for Nikon D7000 and this is the method I used HERE. Exactly the same for Canon 7D. Cheers

          No worries Bill .
Just as a point of interest, the newer Sigma lenses which can be hooked up to the USB dock, can be adjusted in two places in the focal length range through the dock, and I guess can then be also fine tuned again by the camera again if needed.

Ok - tried it just now and, after a bit of fiddling, it seemed to need around +17. I only did it at 300mm as that's where I want it to be sharpest for birds

So we''ll see how we go - thanks again

That's a fair bit to tweak it Alan. I hope it works out for the best.

You didn't smell like chips did you?
Fine set of shots. Number three.... just epitomises seagulls to me.

You realise how beautiful even the common birds are when you see a good picture of them.

They just know this place needed some good photos posted. And you get the wonder of nature while getting them photos.
Really like the beak open in #3 but the perspective of the second makes it a bit special.
                All good stuff though.
