Thanks Alan.
While they are not a common sight here, we do see them now and then. Last week I saw 2 of them in a tree, but couldn't get a clear shot of them, too many branches in the way.
I have never seen them before. They seem to have very long tail feathers. Great images.
Cheers Isac.
Yes those long tailfeathers give it a long and skinny look, they are perhaps 400mm from head to tip of tail, and as a result they are not the most nimble of birds
Quite like the clear view and pose in the second. Interesting how the claws and eye seem tac sharp and the front and wing feathers aren't. To much NR?
Thanks for the comments Mark. Fair call on the NR, it had been put through NIK Dfine. The image was taken with 3200iso, which I consider my upper limit with the D7100, I would much rather use lower, but something has to give in my shaded environment.
Here is the same image, pretty much SOOC, just cropped the same as the before, and a little sharpening applied. I have added the version in the original post also to make it easier to compare.
Well Brad, you where the one that mentioned how inportant Control points can be with NIK (thanks for that, has really help me with BGs for birds.
So Upped the clarity and shadows in PS then selected a control point in Dfine to reduce noise in the BG (had to step lightly with such a small file) and let's see when I post,
Thanks for taking the time to do the edit Mark.
I haven't started to use the control points in dfine yet, about time to learn .
I mainly use the control points in Viveza, where I find them very useful.
