Well we don't have Flamingos up here at any of the zoos/bird places but we have the Curlews roaming the streets at night making their noises (as well in the grassed areas behind us) Awesome birds .. and the Eclectus Parrots are just so pretty and cheeky things.

Thank you Anna, nice to get your thoughts. I have a dear friend who breeds parrots and one of their pet Eclectus they have runs the household. They are gorgeous! Were I volunteer at Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, the avian manager runs here own company and is a whiz at anything on birds - she really is passionate about them. I can see why now I'm amongst it all.

Was it a walk though exhibit? What a great way to get relaxed close up images of beautiful birds.

It was half walk through and the rest were through the wire aviaries. It's really is a beautiful place.

Last time I was at the zoo I made the mistake of taking a small child with me. Talk about bird spoiler. :-)

What I like really love about small kids (the grandies) is telling them "I went to the Zoo all by self YESTERDAY and it was fantastic. Maybe your Mum and Dad will take you all next week". Then I answer 20 questions about my day out and get them all enthused by showing them photos of all the animals.

Then when you actually take them...all they want to do is ride the fake animals on the merry go round, play in the playground with the other kids and go to the toilet.

You're not wrong Phoenix. A few of those things you mentioned have described me to a T!
