  • A mix of birds at Birdworld Kuranda

Birdworld is a great little place up yonder hill (Kuranda Range) at Kuranda .. $27.50 for me and Eve to walk around and enjoy the stunning birds. I did my best with the lighting conditions .. and I think I did ok. Me and Eve walked around and around again and again etc etc .. we loved having the Parrots land on us and try pull my earrings out and the gems from my rings. Even the big Blue & Gold Mackaw flew to my shoulder and actually undid my stud earring and it flicked to the floor and I luckily saved the back .. and then the attendant came to relocate him, still was a thrill for a huge bird like that to perch on my shoulder and ever so gently disengage my earring lol. More birds on my flickr page.

    1. Dusky Lorikeet which I had never seen before and was a beauty to watch him preen.

What a lovely selection of parrots. Must have been great to see them, they have such character and you have caught their inquisitive looks so well.
Funny thing about that Dusky Lorrikeet is that I hadn't heard of them before a week ago and now it's come up on your posting. Beautiful detail in that image of it.
      Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful birds. Never heard of a Dusky, but that's not surprising living in the cooler climes.

Some gorgeous birds Anna and good shots of them. I too have never heard of a Dusky Lorikeet - nor most of the others in your post. We have some stunning parrots in Aus - thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone, the were amazing .. I loved being there at Birdworld as did Eve. The Sun Conures and Eclectus Parrots can be bred in captivity as pets but I THINK you need a license, not sure but I have seen breeders selling them on facebook.

They are all gorgeous Anna. Generally you need a licence for Eclectus (annual about $20 a year) and free licence for conures. My tog friend's wife is a breeder and has heaps of parrots (yes of course I have lots of photos). I wouldn't want a Conure as a pet though - they are very noisy, worse when you ignore them - they want your attention 24/7. Still, they are beautiful. The Dusky has the orange throat band and is of the variety "halloween". Snippets I got from the breeder. I'll post a few aviary birds later on.
