  • Godwit blast off

Posted the first image in the 'Summer' comp thread but will post it here as well to provide context.

The two images after that are where the action starts. Understatement of the millennium to say I'm happy with these, especially the last.

Plenty of opportunities to capture blast off images as an assortment of eagles, kites and hawks cruise past on a regular basis looking for an easy snack, there was also a massive feral cat on the beach. Need a different sort of Canon for a good feral cat shot.

Light was terrible middle of the day stuff but can't be helped as the tides dictate when these opportunities present.

(would appreciate feedback on the exposure level on the last as it looks a fraction too dark to my eye)

Most of us feel lucky to get a shot of one of these majestic birds but to get this sort of action is out of this world. Brilliant photos Mick. Happy New Year to you as well.

Thanks Isac. Spoilt rotten up here I'll freely admit.

Have trouble holding the camera still with my trembling hands when confronted with a scene like this. Breathtaking sight to behold and concentrating on the task at hand can be difficult.

WOW! That is extraordinary Mick. You are blessed with subjects like these.

        Well captured/framed. Almost abstract.

I can't help with exposure feedback as I'm only on a little laptop atm

#2 is a bit stunning with them birds still not in flight across the bottom.
The last might just appear a bit dark because that dark band in the BG?

What a wonderful sight. Good for you.

Must have been an amazing sight to be there, the photos are amazing as it is.
The second one with the line of standing birds really catches my eye.
The last one is exposed correctly for mine, the birds are just right.
              Cheers, Brad.

Wow is right. Not only an amazing sight to behold but also your captures of it. I too like #2 with the line of birds waiting to join in the flight and the exposure looks fine to me.
