  • Forest Kingfisher

Instead of doing the chores when I got home this afternoon I put the Tamron 150-600 on the Nikon and went for a walk

There wasn't much wildlife about, but I did find this Forest Kingfisher....

Well done. Sometimes we just think there is only 1 type of kingfisher - the kooka. But many others.

        Cheers SS and Barkly.

These fella's are a fairly common sighting at my place, we also have the Azure Kingfisher that can be spotted along the creek.
        Cheers, Brad.

That's a different BG. Looks like it's flying past while the bird stands still.
How about bringing the highlights down a bit to see if there's a bit more detail in the branch and whites in the bird?
          Nonetheless a wonderful photo.

Cheers Mark. The background is actually a Coconut tree leaf, it does give a unique look to the photo.

Here is another version, quick edit in aperture and NIK viveza. I think it needs some more work, but its getting too late for me, I have a very early start in the morning.

Wow - I'd take getting a photograph of one of these over chores any day. I prefer your second post - great colours on the bird and I love the background.
