  • Grey Fantail and Superb Fairy-wren

Took these this morning. The underside of a fantail and I found where it's building a nest.
Find them fairy-wren blokes a bit hard to get the exposure right but this will do. Click image for larger version

Hey Mark, I think the exposure is reasonable considering you shot them around 10am - pretty bright light at that time of day so the results are OK. Don't be too hard on yourself and keep at it. I like your work.

I think the wren looks pretty good Mark. I really miss all those cute little birds down your way - nothing but seagulls, galahs, lorikeets and masked lapwings around here at present. Nice catchlight in the eye in #1 and sharp. That nest looks like it has a long way to go.

Lucky to have found that nest. Fantails are such twitchy little fellows and don't sit still for long. Had one following me around on the ride on mower yesterday. Didn't have the camera!

          Thank you for the comments.
Think I'll go and do a bit of strategic gardening around the nest tomorrow. Seems like a good place to get photos.
Greg, when ever I start up the ride on a Willie Wagtail instantly appears to chase them insects.
