  • Scaly Breasted Lorikeet

When I got home this afternoon there were about 6 Red Tailed Black Cockatoo's in a tree near the shed, by the time I got back out there with camera in hand they were gone .
I snapped a few shots of the Scaly Breasted Lorikeets while I was out there.

I've had a similar thing happen with YT Black Cockatoos.

Nice photos of the 'Greenies'. Good eye contact, shame about the twig crossing the bird in #1. Possibly consider cropping a bit off the top?

Nice action in #2, but the bright branch on the left is a bit distracting - maybe it could be toned down a bit or have some of it cropped off - there's not much happening on that side of the photo.

    (More square for both?)

Birds very seldom cooperate in choosing the right background or perch or height or light, so you did good recovering from the lost Cockatoos

    Cheers
    Alan

Thanks for the critique, you raise some points I hadn't considered. These birds were constantly on the move, it was difficult to get a clear shot of them through the busy tree @600mm. Out of about 25 shots I took, these two were the only ones that I thought I could salvage. The Black Cockies will be back, I just hope I get a better chance next time.
      Cheers, Brad.

Very good effort for 600mm! Glad you got a couple of keepers. I just had to get rid of that branch across it's head. Colours and sharpness are great too.

I like what you have done there Isac, that pesky branch looks better now it's gone . I am a bit limited with PP skills, and I am still clinging to Apple Aperture while it still works on my computer, will have to bite the bullet soon. Do you use Adobe CC ?
          Cheers, Brad.
