  • Painted Finch

A stunning bird to find in the wild. Camped at Jarrah Pool in Rudall National Park for a few days and had a little success with bird photos. Patience was the key here, laid down near the end of the pool pre dawn and waited to see who turned up. Spent the previous morning watching from a distance with binoculars and spotted these finches and a few other species.

Hard to get close to these tiny finches so am pretty happy with this shot. Bit of a crop but not enough to bother me.

Gorgeous - the background colours compliment him so well and I like his pose. The finches around here never seem to land for long either - glad your patience paid off.

Great pic. They are normally too quick for me.

Cheers Terry. Yes they are quick, I had one chance in an hour and a half and it was all over in about two seconds, never came back.

Very pretty little bird and the reds really make him look special .. Dusty must have been very quiet for you to capture this birdy.
