Love the magpie. I have a few hanging about looking for the mice I throw out. They are very shy even though there's tucker. Problem in the bush - not used to people.

Heaps of stuff here - your pics are beaut (as always) tho I am not into topaz or any of the equivalents for image "stuffing around / manipulation"

As to Insta.... not for me ~ too many juveniles trying to kid themselves that they are whiz-kidz
I'll stick to Flickr as it is a well known Photographer's Display mechanism (for the want of a better description)

ps- anyone in Insta who is attempting a business link needs to realise that A-L-L- their potential customers MUST become Insta members in order to see their albums
To me, that's not the way to run a business of any sort. Imagine the upsets if Woolies (for example) specified that you must become members of their in-house buyers program before you could even come in the door to buy bread 'n milk

Sorry you are disappointed in IG. I take your point, but I must have been lucky in finding lots of highly skilled/award wining Aus photographers - often people from other Forums, (as well as lapsed members from this one), posting amazing photos, tutorials, tips for locations and having a bit of fun etc. I also found it a great way to discover the many talented photographers (of all ages), in my area.

I am still on Flickr as it is a good storage place for me, and searchable, (which IG isn't grr) The image size limit also annoys me, but one can often go the posters' alternate sites to see high res photos.

I also dislike the fact that, unlike this Forum, no one is encouraged to offer/receive CC. I miss that - I learn a lot from other's suggestions

For me though, it's nice to have the choice of having a few places to post and to also enjoy seeing a large cross section of other photographers' work.

I spent a few hours trying to get instagram to take some pictures from the PC but I can only send them to others. Can't find a plus sign that allows you to add. Have given up.

Great image! Love the eye.

I do think it's cropped too tight on the sides esp, and the post is a bit blown, but that may not be possible to fix. I'd do some subtle dodging/burning on the feathers, esp the lower part of the image to match the contrast/light intensity in the top part.

But I think you have done a great job and have an image to be proud of

Well it's a bird and it's on something, so it qualifies - nice pic showing how people care so much about others property. Lovely bird shot as well.

Thanks for the tips Alan I have changed the aspect ratio from 2:3 to 3:4 to give more room at the sides. The original image is a 2:3 landscape shot. I have done a slight burn on the post and wings as suggested, I also darkened the beak slightly.
I tried to clone out the "ruffled" feathers on the left, but it looked too weird so I left it alone.

Thanks for having a fiddle John. Looks like you added to the 'top' (my fault), but nothing to the left side? Post does look a bit better - bright whites and deep blacks are a pain

Added to the top and added extra width by way of changing aspect ratio. I deliberately moved the bird to the left to give it more room to look in to. Did I go too far, easy to change it if I did?
The post had been painted white and it was a particularly sunny day (for Melbourne).

Crested pigeons waiting for the wildlife shows to come on. These are one of only 2 varieties of crested pigeons in Australia, the other being the spinifex pigeon.

Your images are as good as always ... nice and sharp and I presume #3 from the last post is from your fone (as it seems shot from very close to the bird)
ps- you ask Greg above about Instantgram - I don't use any site that requires my / any / visitors to compulsorily create an account just to view my images ... so Fb and Insta don't get a geurnsey
