  • Mutant Magpies.

I don't know the name of these noisy critters, yet I feel as though I should do. They have made a nest in the strangest of places on the folds of Fan Palm frond, just outside our bedroom window. There behaviour is very much like a Magpie, they will even "Buzz" you very closely if they feel you are threatening their nest. Can anyone help out with a name for them.
I nested both my 2x and 1.4 extenders onto my 300mm f2.8 to get these shots. Please let me know what you think. Click image for larger version

I think you did pretty well considering the light and background and stacking of the TCs

    Love the open beak

Thanks Alan, yes I had the early morning sun coming from behind me, almost copy book position over my left shoulder. They are all full frame straight out of the camera.

The tilted head looking straight down the lens looks good, an almost human expression.

HI Steve Thanks for your comments and good to see you back on line, although I too have been "out and about". Your images, expertise and comments were sorely missed. The forum really needs people with an eye for detail and willingness to share.
