Nice, I was wondering how you got so close and then I saw the shot data.

Yellow tail cockatoo. (I was still pretty close)

Good shots of this beautiful bird - we only get the red tailed ones here. #2 is a good shot but just makes me feel awkward looking at it - I feel I need to flip it. I have a 1.5x in camera crop but everytime I've tried it I just cut off parts of the bird.

Thanks Gabby, when I'm using the 1.4x and 2x, I still use the lens zoom to frame the shot. With the 150-500 Sigma you have a pretty wide range to work with.

Yes I agree it's very awkward looking at it and even more so taking a photo of it. The bird was hanging upside down holding onto one cone while picking at another. There was another cocky trying to chew off the cone that bird one was hanging onto.

I had a look at flipping it in all directions to make it easier viewing but nothing makes it better.. that's just the way it was.

image quality looks good with the 2x digital zoom. prefer the first 2 of these as they show typical feeding behaviour

You have captured cracker of a personalitues in these birds.
We don't have the yellow tailed over here. Love the way they look like they are smiling for the camera.
While they may not be the sharpest or best lighting, I think thise images are engaging and make you just adore these birds.
Glad I popped in for a peek.
