I'm learning to capture shots in RAW format but seem to be having probbies with noise. Had a play in PS and was able to reduce some of it.
Along with that I had probbies keeping up with him as he was striding out...lol.

turn the cameras noise reduction off and capture in raw + jpg and you may see the camera has been stealing your noise for the jpg files

photography in raw format should be no different to photographing in jpg. The real different is in the pp.

raw+jpg is a good way to go because you see how the camera read the scene.

When importing files into light room you need to un-click "don't import suspected duplicates"

Better shot than what I have of these birds. I really have trouble getting a clear shot of these with nice light. They always seem to hide in the shade and / or behind something when I'm about .

Do you have Lightroom, because in LR you can quite easily reduce a great deal of the noise.

I have shot at events under flood lights at ultra high ISO where there has been a great deal of noise and managed to eliminate a great deal of the noise in LR.

Jess in LR there are a number of different modes.

You will find the best mode for PP in the Develop Mode. Its possible to play around in the Library, but Develop offers a much wider scope for PP and is much easier to use than Photoshop.

Love this shot - they are such busy little birds and this one looks like it's on a mission.
