  • Miner and Butcher Bird

    Hi

I borrowed my sister's D3200 with 70-300mm to try to grab a couple of quick snaps of the friendly, common birds while in QLD recently

Noisy Miner (Manorina melanocephala) and Pied Butcher Bird (Cracticus nigrogularis)

Great shots. I have that lens but haven't got bird shots like that.

Unfortunately, that lens doesn't Auto Focus with that camera which made it even more awkward. (and I still had the camera set at 3200 ISO from the night before - doh - so I'm glad I got anything useful really.)

        Cheers

Beautiful shot of the butcher bird, listen for his call its amazing........
Re: the portrait of the Noisy Miner, looks to me that the focus on the head is just a tad soft........Probably my eyes, I tend to stare at images too long........

Agree about the focus (and call) Michael - as mentioned, I had to manually focus and my old eyes aren't what they used to be. I don't have the Miners in Wamboin so just happy to get a few record shots.

              Cheers
