Captured this friarbird a while back doing his/her early morning preening.

OMG! A headless little bird, I thought. But now I see it.

Did you shoot off any other frames?

From memory this is the only frame Charles, I think I spooked the poor little thing and he was away in a flash.

Mind you this image is from 2010 so there could have been a tree full of them for all I know, we'll never know now.

Excellent detail Mick - lovely shot. I reckon it's great to get some shots that capture the bird doing it's thing, rather than just sitting there. Just my weird opinion though.

Thanks Isac. Nothing weird about your opinion at all. Birds offer some wonderful opportunities for photography but patience by the photographer is the key imho. If you wait long enough the bird will almost always reward your patience.

Or they will fly away leaving you empty handed lol!
