  • Grebe Enjoying Lunch.

I spotted this grebe with a crustacean of some description in it's beak, obviously not prepared to share, as it was fairly hiking across the lake. It was a long way away and the IQ is not the best - glad I had the siggy 150-500 with me.

    good behaviour captured.

    did well with the light.

I think the lines on the water saved your bacon with this one.

think it would have lost plenty with a plain white background

Thanks Stephen, It was more the moment than anything else. I would have preferred better IQ.

Actually the iq isnt that bad, feather detail is visible and in some kind of way the water lines add to the image......

Better than anything I've got on this bird Isac. Well done!

I suspect it's a dragonfly larvae the grebe has.
Lovely capture. Like the water tones and the hints of the same greens that are on the birds bill.

Thank you Rob. I have a few of the Grebes from our local lake. They are a bit camera shy though, and being small, it's hard to get a nice close up. I'll keep trying though.

I love you're comments Jo. You're probably right about the larvae after taking a close look. I still reckon the IQ is not that good, the green on the face should be yellow!
