A couple of shots from Dog Rocks near Geelong in Victoria. My wife prefers the colour images, but I'm a bit of a B&W man myself. You can tell by the footy team I follow.
Fantastic images John. I think the hero of them is that unusual looking tree. It is spectacular. I prefer the coloured versions here but in saying that, the B&W versions to me look a bit more like negatives and the contrast on those lovely rocks is lost. I don't think the dark sky works on this type of image, as well as it might on buildings or street scenes. The great soft clouds add to the images so I think should be highlighted too. What process did you use to get the B&W?
I had a play and I think a B&W adjustment layer in PS does the trick.
On a B&W layer set Mode to Normal and the colour sliders to: Reds = -120
Yellows = 60
Greens = 300
Cyans = 90
Blues = -60
Magentas = 0
Give it a go and see what you think. Of course the numbers are only my own thoughts and you will probably change them, but they are a good starting point.
I was looking for a "different" edit for these images and was using the infrared preset as a starting point.
All adjustments were done in PS so you will be able to have a good play around.
I noticed it a couple of weeks ago when I was messing around with infra red, don't know when it was included with the other presets. I'm using Photoshop 2024 25.0.0
