Thanks all, I included all three shots to illustrate how the worm's feeding gills extend from it's tube. It can contract to withdraw the 'feather' completely at the blink of an eye and usually does just as you bring the camera up for a shot. The technique is to let it do just that, then sit and wait for it to come out to play again. They are extremely sensitive to movement in the vicinity of the tube.
