    Bella here,

Jeanie, I understand what it's like to be homeless and abandoned. When Charles and Elizabeth came to get me from the RSPCA dog pound, I had been wandering the streets of Pt Lincoln in SA.

These are very sad pictures, and take me back to that time. Were they taken by another homeless person with an iPhone?

Be brave. At the pound, there are lots of nice people (if they don't put you down, like they were going to do to me before they decided to bring me to Adelaide) and somebody nice will come along and take you home and let you share a nice big bed every night.

If all else fails, I'll SMS my address to you and you can make your way to my place. Charles said you could stay with us as long as you like.

    Bella

I never thought I'd live to see the day when a dog could actually express itself so wonderfully with the written word. It brings back fabulous memories of Mr Ed back in the sixties. There ios such a wealth of talent out there in the animal world, in fact I have noticed lately a few animals actually dancing, talking and singing on television commercials. Baby Oleg, Sergei and Aleksandr, the meerkats spring to mind. So - those with poodles, now's the time to get excited about the massive income our little four legged friends can produce. ComparetheMarket.com has DOUBLED it's income by using the Meerkat family. As of August 2009, Aleksandr had more than 700,000 Facebook fans and 22,000 followers on Twitter! That's more than double of what I have.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

That is a very sad story Bella, but it has such a happy ending. I glad you found such caring owners.

I'm also blessed with two wonderful owners who couldn't bear to put me (us) in kennels while they visited Canberra, so they took all three of us along to their apartment.

Being used to the wide open spaces of the country and the beach, the hard surfaces and enclosed spaces etc took a bit of getting used too - esp having to be taken to the toilet on a lead - so embarrassing

Still, it was better than prison.

Thanks for the kind offer of accommodation Charles, but I'm home now having a haircut and a latte prior to my beach exercise session.

Isac, a celebrated and one of the earliest(?) examples of animals writing is that of Archy the cockroach and Mehitabel the alley cat. Archy was a reincarnated free verse poet who use to throw himself at the keyboard of a typewriter in the office of the The Evening Sun newspaper in New York in the 1910's and 1920's, writing articles about the events of the day. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article.

Bella models herself on them a bit. She is hoping for a job with The Guardian. If First Dog can do it, she wants to be 2nd Dog.

Very good read Charles - entertaining at best. I would expect to see further writings from Bella as she progresses in her chosen field of journalism.
