Very cool.
I'd imagine in colour the white quartz might stand out even more?
-
Well, yes and no Todd. I could just as easily lift the whites and sharpen the contrast in b&w but that would remove the connection I see between the rocks and sky.
I wanted a balance between the two main elements (sky and rock), they both occupy roughly the same amount of space in the image and hopefully the distant hill adds some interest and depth.
Meant to be more of a study in form, texture, gentle light and tones than a landscape image. The slightly brighter light on the horizon (rhs) also works as a subtle counterpoint to the rocks foreground left.
With colour, most of that is lost, well, it's lost to my eye anyway.-----------------------------------------------------

Thank you Alan.
One of those rare images that make me do a little dance at time of capture. Just know instantly that it needs conversion to b&w and will work a treat.
Wish I could work out how to capture more of them.

You've done it again Mick. The B&W conversion has enlivened me (once again) and i love your perspicacious interpretation of your work. A super image that no doubt is a receiver of the "Isac Images Wall hanger Award". Congratulations my friendI Shoot A Canon

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
