  • Two Wheels

This afternoon I tasked myself to take and PP a photo to enter in a weekly comp on another forum I am a member of.
The brief was "Two Wheels" - we need to see 2 wheels, apart from that, anything goes.

My vision was old decayed wagon wheels, PP'd to look like an old photo.

This was my subject, a couple of old wagon wheels beside my shed. Click image for larger version

Hard to make a wrong decision as all have merit.

I think you've chosen wisely, good processing and composition.

I also like the first b&w for its strong 'in your face' composition.

Excellent subject chosen and would think it might be hard to beat as not everyone has a pair of old wagon wheels laying around.

      Thanks for your thoughts Mick.
Yes, my first gut feeling was that first one, it was the first one I PP'd after I went through the photos I had taken.
But something swayed me away from it in the end, I am starting to think I went with the last one because I viewed it as the safe choice.
Maybe I should have waited til tomorrow to post it, after I had time to think about my choices overnight.
Oh well, too late now, I am only allowed one entry. Its not as though there is a Sheep Station for first prize ( There is no prize, just a very brief moment as the "Winner", then the next weeks challenge starts, and its all forgotten )
      Cheers, Brad.

Upon reflection, and trying to wear a judges hat, I'd go with your choice because it shows the wheels in context, on the ground, in decay amongst the leaf litter.

Shame about the lack of sheep stations. I did win a meat tray raffle in a pub once, that's as close as I got.

          Cheers Mick, thanks for that.
I won a wheelbarrow full of meat at a pub once, had to give most of it away because I had to catch a plane the next day
          Cheers, Brad.

Nice work. I'm inclined to go with #3 for it's more abstract feel. (helps to number them if asking for comments)

Good luck - let us know how you went

            Cheers

Thanks for your thoughts Alan. Its very interesting to hear other peoples choices and why.

I will be sure to post here about my results once the deadline closes and the voting begins.
              Cheers, Brad.

I actually like your choice of the last. The tones appeal to me and good contrast.

                  Thanks PPlates.
I am comfortable with my choice, though I am sure the others would have done the job too

Well I was just notified that I won the weekly challenge with my entry . I got 65.38% of the vote in the final round of voting.
For my prize I get to choose the subject for the next challenge which starts this Wednesday. I chose "Metal".
For my example photos, I sent in these 2.

Theres no plastic in this baby.

And I'd suggest you're well on the way towards another win

                        Cheers Mick.
Those example images are included in the first post to help get peoples ideas flowing, they are too old to be included in the challenge, as entries must be taken within the week of the challenge.
I do have another idea though
                        Cheers, Brad.
