The old tree dies, its falling limbs create shelter for a myriad of tiny critters and Mother Nature places flowers on the grave.

At the time I captured this I was collecting firewood but couldn't bring myself to disturb this scene and moved on.

Processing is dark as I felt it suited my slightly sombre mood at time of capture

Nice Mick. I'd like to see how far the flowers stretched while using the limb and tree as foreground.

      Thanks Todd.

I have a few images of fields of wildflowers but nothing I'm really happy with. I did try but just couldn't pull it off.

A very high percentage of images from my desert journey are of this 'what's at my feet' style. Quite early on I decided to go down this path rather than try and capture the expansive vista. So much of the desert landscape is open scrub country and I found myself looking at the ground just in front of me rather than the distant horizon.

Have plenty of images of dead branches laying on the ground and I concentrated on light and shadow and interesting form rather than trying to capture the landscape in which they lie. If I was to do the journey again who knows!

Rather than photographing the desert I ended up photographing things in the desert.

That's certainly a different perspective and one I can certainly appreciate. Well done.

A magic shot Mick. You've still got it!

Now, after the praise I dealt out about you in Todd's "Pick It To Pieces" thread, go say something about his work!!!!

My indecision is final, I think.

        This is really good.
It's so different to what most of us would shoot. The contrast is really special, black to those highlighted flowers...moody and grim yet lifted by the blossoms.

Haven't been there, not done that.
