  • Cresent Moon at Dawn.

In the vastness of the empty desert wilderness I felt as insignificant as the tiny fragment of moon. Sunrise is a special time of day.

B&W treatment is pretty special Mick. We are all just a speck in this universe. Another great image.

Good use of negative space to give that sense of isolation.

Heard plenty of dingoes howling at night Jo...or perhaps you were camped nearby

Nice mood to this Mick - just wondering where all the stars are?

Good point Alan! Made me go back and look at the RAW file.

Image was captured at 17mm on 17th July at 6:12am (approx ten minutes before sunrise) and not a single star to be seen. The RAW does look slightly brighter but the jpg is reasonably accurate in that regard.

Could it be the northern latitude? I'm almost directly east of Broome here in Rudall National Park and we have virtually no twilight time this far north, perhaps if the image had been captured ten minutes earlier stars would be visible. Other than that I have no idea.

Thanks wacko. I find myself doing more and more b&w of late, there's just something about the genre that draws me in.

Beautifully processed Mick and certainly gives a great sense of isolation
