B & W conversion then 'Poster Edges' filter. Found it the best way to illustrate the folds and textures in the tree trunk. It was quite shaded. I'll put up the original.

Maybe not an exciting subject, but it did catch my eye as an impressive tree.

Textures in tree trunks always attract me too but I find it extremely difficult to get a good photo - someone said using flash helps bringing out the texture but I haven't tried that yet. I do like the reddish hues in that tree also.
