I just used the kitchen sink - dripped water from the tap, at various rates, into a pizza tray (supported at bench height) in which I'd put some red food colouring.
Background was either a black card or a colourful painting. Lighting was a ring flash at 90 degrees at 1/4 power about 10 inches from the drops. Lens 60mm Micro Nikkor.
I'd like to try a deeper container and drips from a greater height at some stage

I like these .. the first though looks a bit vertically wonky .. Looks like long drip is leaning towards the left slightly. The second is very colourful .. but I do like it and would brighten up the wall of a modern bathroom.Anna
