AP: How did you get into photography?
SS: I purchased my first digital camera about 4 years ago, a Kodak DX6490, 4.1 mp and used it to photograph aquarium fish I used to breed and sell for a hobby. Seen the obvious benefits of digital over film so bought a Nikon D50 and kit lenses not long after and became very interested quickly.

AP: How long have you been taking photos for?
SS: Well, like most people I often has some kind of camera since I was a child, mostly just for happy snaps, but liked to experiment a bit as well. First camera I was given by Father Christmas { the real one } a cheap no name brand film camera, but it sure made me feel special...Thanks Santa

AP: What was your most rewarding shot?
SS: Tough question....any shot that comes out well is rewarding, but I guess the most rewarding was probably the first bird shot I ever took. It was with my Nikon D50 and Tamron 70-300 of an Egret in flight, I won my first competition with that image. I thought it was just sooooo cool, looking back now I pick it to pieces for the poorer quality.

AP: What type of photography is your forte?
SS: Without question anything to do with nature, flora, fauna, landscape/seascapes and in particular birding.

AP: What is something you want to get into?
SS: Travelling the world to some of the more exotic places like Borneo, Madagascar, Africa, Sub-Antarticica and the like to photograph the diversity of nature in these regions

AP: What other hobbies do you have?
SS:Anything to do with the great outdoors like camping, bush walking, fishing, diving and gardening. I am also heavily involved with a volunteer organisation revegitating, maintaining the Onklaparinga National Park south of Adelaide. Also conduct educational presentations on native species in local regions to community groups, schools and the like

AP: What's your favourite location for shots?
SS:Anywhere that might offer a chance to get the shots I'm after. I guess the Onkaparinga National Park would be favorite simple because I spend so much time there, and it's only a few minutes from home. Lots of National parks and Reserves are very good, places like Gluepot Station in the Riverland and Bowra Station in inland SW Qld.

AP: What web presence do you have?
SS:Still working on something, but hard to find time to finish anything, however have uploaded a few bird pix to Smugmug and here of course!
