Spring Clean your kit!
As spring approaches and we finish our winter hibernation, it is probably a good idea to have a quick spring clean of all your kit that may or may not have been used over winter.
Below is a list of Photographic Spring Cleaning ideas.
Empty your gear bag: Now is as good a time as any to empty everything out of your gear bag and give it a good vacuum inside, to remove any dust, sand fibres that may have settled there over winter. While the bag is empty, why not grabs a damp cloth and give the outside of the bag a clean. This is also a good time to check the bag for any damage to straps or zippers that may have gone un-noticed.
Stocktake your gear: While all your gear is laid out, take some time to go through it and see what you have, what you want and what you do not need. If you have something you no longer need, why not put it up for sale on the forum. Used camera gear holds its value very well and selling unwanted gear may just pay for that lens you have been lusting over.
Clean your camera and Lens: Now we turn our attention to the camera. With a slightly damp cloth you can clean any gunk off the body of your camera. Next why not use a micro fibre cloth to clean all the nose grease of your LCD. For your lens use a separate microfiber cloth to clean the front elements of any dust. During this light clean you can inspect the camera and lens for any problems, or dust inside. Dust inside a lens usually requires a trip to a repair centre.
Is your sensor dirty: Check out the thread on the forum about cleaning your sensor, or drop it into a repair centre and have it done for you.
Finally, Charge up all your batteries, repack your bag and get out and take some photographs!
